Going to Buffalo

We are looking to plan our summer trip and are thinking of Sailing to Buffalo NY on Lake Erie. Is Buffalo a good place to visit and do they have a nice water front? We will sailing from the Port Clinton Area on Lake Erie. Cliff H 28.5 "Red Dog"
