Just wondering if anyone heading south at this time on this forum. Any good details to tell us,any good or bad experiences while traveling south to may be Florida from up New England. Looking for possible advice making the trip from NY to west coast Florida. When is the best time to sail down to Florida spring or fall. Did our last sail this past week so its time to start thinking and planning for next year. Nick

Seadaddler< I have friends that sailed from Havre

de grace about the 3rd of November one year and had adverse weather for the full length of the bay. Spent the winter in Hampton, Va. Several good stops on the upper Chesapeake. There is a grocery store within a block of the waterfront close by Tidewater Marina in Havre de Grace. There is a very sheltered anchorage at marker 10 on the Sassafras river with full services 1-2 miles up river. This is only about 5 miles from the bay. The others will have to advise you beyond here. Also pay strict attention to navigation from the Elk River to Havre de Grace. It looks like a lot of water but much of it is very thin.
