Going Sailing

Joan & I will head out on July 1st headed south for about 7-10 days. Exploring the southern Chesapeake Bay and York River. Planning to be at Cape Charles and Kiptopeke beach on/about the 4th. Will also head over to Yorktown.

I will be flying the Java flag so if any of you are out running around give me call. Always willing to share some rum with fellow sailors...

PS. Might get over to Salt Pond, so Ron get your boat cleaned up....

We live on York Point on the Poquoson River, good anchorages around there, just not far enough from home for us to use . If we spot your Java flag we'll see if we can say hello!

Fireworks

Plan on anchoring out for the 4th fireworks at the Yorktown Monument. May also wish to try York River Yacht Haven directly opposite Yorktown, one of the Bay's finest.

We love Sara's creek (where York River Yacht Haven is). We tend to anchor there and not get a slip but it might be crowded and will have a lot of traffic through there on the 4th with the fireworks across the river. We love the Crab Deck there but haven't been there yet this year, they are under new management I understand, we need to get over there sometime to try it out!

Mobjack Bay has many cool places to anchor (Put in creek, north river, severn river).

They have some floating piers, but might be booked, and they have mooring balls, we used one once there. There is some cool stuff in Yorktown, including the Yorktown pub.

One of my Uncles lives in the Salt Ponds. What a nice area. He just bought a C&C 32 (it is an older boat) and he has been sailing it on day sails quite a bit....You might meet him out there Jim.

Looking forward to seeing you this weekend at St. Mary's as well. As far as I know Tango, Finally II, Southern Cross, and myself will be down there (the rest of the guys are chicken I guess...LOL).

I will be out in the bay for 7 days starting two weeks from this Friday. I am planning on going north and hitting Solomins and then going up the Choptank.

I am not as cool as Jim though, I don't have boat flag. I just fly a Bartholemew Roberts Flag off of my starboard spreader.

whats the java flag? Is it an open invitation to come over for some coffee? Do they make a Rum flag? Rum is always capitalized. Patrick

If I see the Java flag it will mean you have gone through the canal and sailed under the Golden Gate. Give Joan a hug for us( I include the Metts in that hug). Have a great sail hopefully we'll see you out on the bay again soon.

I'm still trying to track down a Cal hat of Bob's. I think Do has one but she is traveling to fast....

Not sure when we will get out to the Bay. We finally got Bob planted on June 6! Several of the relatives got a little un-nerved when I started spinning the urn and giving Bob his finally ride....

The Admiral and I plan to depart Kent Island, Md....

...this Sunday for 2 weeks on Dreamboat with a target of Yorktown, Va. However, if she remembers that the Tides Inn and Marina is on the river north of the York, we may never make Yorktown. We might pass Java heading south as we head back up the bay around the first. Let's hope for fair winds and pleasant temperatures!

I am heading out on Friday for St. Marys and trying to get down river a ways. I want to get there early on Saturday to get to tour everything. I sent out a group email in regards to the plans as well.

A week from this Friday I am heading back out for 7 days and I am heading North this time.
