san diego slips

it's about 8 to 10 $ a foot and of course a 30 foot boat in a 40 foot slip will pay for it

Catalina - Myrtle Beach
It's Been A Couple of Years

It's been a couple of years since we had our boat in SoCal but the even bigger issue was slip availability at any cost. We lived in Huntington Beach and kept Calico Dragon in San Diego mostly because there was no availability in Orange County or the Long Beach area. Now the problem then was renovating marinas in that area and maybe the situation may have improved. But since we were shipping our boat cross country we needed to know we had a slip and couldn't visit marinas in person. San Diego was expensive. Our first slip was at Sunroad marina. Nice facility but pretty expensive. At the time it was approx $600/mo for a Catalina 320. After 6 months we were able to move to Harbor Island West marina and it was about $450/mo. I suggest that you Google on San Diego marinas or whatever area you prefer and contact the marinas directly.

Slip fees in San Diego

Dave B, do you want it straight or sugar coated? Cuz chucker gave you the sugar coated version for sure... well that depends. I pay 19 dollars a foot at arguably the nicest "public" marina in San, and smile every month when I pay it. We have our boat there for our own reasons though. If you are on Harbor or Shelter Islands, you can pay less but dont plan on anything under 14 a foot. Down towards Chula Vista, which is easily a two hour sail to Point Loma, you might find 8-10. If you are ex mil, or active, the Navy Yacht Club has a nice facility and some good rates. The waiting list is a long as my... well alot longer than that. Google the San Diego marinas. Most of them have their prices online so you get facts. Bottom line, you have to pay to sail in mecca.

I pay...

$10.88/ft for my slip in Chula Vista. Click on the link to go to the web site. I see a lot of empty slips in my marina. Yeah, it appears to the the cheapest in price and the most farthest south, but it sure is a very nice and quiet marina.

Long Beach Municipal marina has...

a rate schedule depending on the length of the boat, I believe. Forty-feet LOA runs about $10.50 per foot/month. There are less expensive slips in LA Harbor; as cheap as $8.50-$9.50, I believe, but the transit down to the pass through the breakwater is long from there. BEO
