Before I buy, I was wondering if anyone has had experience with the WM High Back Go Anywhere Chair. They are regularly priced at $100 and are on sale for $50.

yes!

we have 2 on board. they're great for lounging on deck while at anchor to read or whatever. my wife has severe back issues and it has allowed her to enjoy. i also use it to relax on long sessions with the tiller. gives my back a rest.

Not me, not again

Bought two of these WM chairs little over a year ago and both have since broken. They will not stay locked in the upright position. They are still on my boat, but only serve as mats or horizontal cushions.

We like them

We have three two low backs and one high back. No problem except the low backs (three seasons old) needed a little attention to the internal mechanism. That was after shipping them in a duffle bag to the BVI for a charter last Jan. We like them.

Not good quality

These are the chairs that West Marine knocked off from Sport-a-Seat. They are not nearly as durable and the internal components fail very rapidly. The Sport-a-Seat is more expensive, but higher quality and will last longer. In my estimation, this is a case of you get what you pay for.

The jury's still out on my WM's.

They work great. Fifty bucks each. New last summer. The covers unzip for washing. (Acrylic, that's good) I checked out the ratchet mechanism. Just like those adjustable old deck lounges that were so popular as far back as I can remember. And that's a long time. The point is, if the latches fail they're replaceable. Fifty bucks. Go for it.

Sport-a-Seats last....

We first saw them at an Annapolis boat show over ten years ago -- but they were sold out. Turned out they were manufactured locally, so we ended up picking ours up from the man and wife who were building them in the basement in of their home in Virginia. They have since been very successful and moved into new factory digs. They're an essential part of our boat, and have lasted with no problems.

The wife loves hers

Bought one last year. On sale at the WM web site $50. Used it during the summer and almost every day on a trip from Buffalo, NY to Charleston, SC. No problems and it made the trip much nicer for my wife. If I had to find a negative it would be storing it on the boat.
