Last weekend I took the old expired registration decals off my Zodiac dinghy. They were stuck real good, and I had to pick them off bit by bit. I then cleaned the area with alcohol and applied the new decals.... Yesterday I webt to the boat - found one decal had come off the dinghy completely (found it underneath), and the other was waving in the breeze and about to come off any minute. I don't understand why these should be so different from the previous ones in the way they stuck... Anyway, the task is to find a glue or other means of sticking these decals back on to the Zodiac's pvc hull. Any suggestions? Double sided tape? It's gotta last two years. Derek

Hi Derek - I would be surprised that the gov't is using different glue this year; are you sure the area was not cleaned properly prior to application of the new stickers? Sorry I don't have any better ideas! Trevor

Call the D.E.M....

...for replacements. They should accommodate you. Then mount them in a different location.

New Adhesives

I have heard that there is a big push to ban solvent based adhesives. The states are mandating replacing them with water soluble adhesives. My best guess is this is the case. A marina neighbor just had his countertops relaminated to find them delaminating the very next week. The culprit was water base contact cement. Look out its coming! They had to remove clean and replace the adhesive with a solvent based contact cement.

sounds like some pin head gov. type

makes a lot of sense ! PUT WATER TYPE GLUE ON A BOAT STICKER. afterall a boats never near or in water. this is right up there with the osha rule that machines have backing alarms then require workers to wear ear muffs so they can't hear them.
