I came down to the boat last evening to pick up some paperwork and parts to take home and work on an low and behold water dripping in . Four weeks ago we had given our topsides a new anti skid coat and removed some hardware and in our rush to catch the plane home we forgot to reinstall two pieces , no to bad , one dripped down on the stove and then on floor and into bilge but nrxt one got my settee cushion so here I am at one o'clock in the morning peeing rain and bedding some hardware and drying off , what we don't do for fun I wanted to take some pictures of our new windows and antiskid but have to run and catch flight home will come back again and try for pictures another time

Put some type of dehumidifier in the boat. My inside got a little wet from a storm last year.....remnants of a hurricane, and I didn't deal with it properly. I ended up with a lot of mildew. What could have been fixed quickly by drying things out and cleaning a little ended up in me having to clean the entire cabin and a bunch of other things. It sucked!

Hi. I had same problem with damnest in our boat. We were at the doller store and found some dehumidifier boxes that triangle in shape. 4x2x2. We use these in our boat all the time and they do work really good and last up to 30 days. The best part is they are only a dollar. We buy 2 dozen at a time until we run out. We place container in four places upon interior of the boat. ( head, two saloon, and berth.) Our damnest has gone down a lot, plus we also try to keep bilge dry as possible. I hope this help you with your situation and in the future and save you money. We all want to save money when it come to boat cost.

We have an AC powered dehumidifier on our HV'36. It is amazing how much water it removes each week during the winter. We have the bypasss hooked up so it pumps directly into our galley sink.

If we used the built in tank it would automatically shut off in a day or two during the winter months. We turn it off when we are on the boat in the winter.

If you decide to get an electric one get a larger capacity unit 50-70 Qt. They are actually more efficient.

So you all leave your sink seacock open to drain the dehumidifier ? Is this not dangerous?

If you don't want to put it down the drain you can always pump it in your bilge.
