Anyone have any experience, pro or con, with Globe Impellers? They are advertised as being able to run without water in the pump for 15 min or more. Are they a worthwhile product?

my mechanic said to pass
I asked my mechanic what he thought of them. He said they only have a shelf live of 2 years, and there's no way of telling how old is was when you got it. Also he mentioned that they do take a set when not used for some time.
