Glad?

I know this is a little out of the ordinary but I thought I would give it a shot. I am a model maker and currently working on a restoration of a Spanish Galleon. My client asked me ( in reference to the flags and pendents) to " put a glad in the middle with two streamers on either side". I haven't a clue what he is asking. Does anyone know?

Kurt , Maybe you need to tell the owner that you

don't mind displaying your ignorance and ask him to explain what a "Glad" might be. My dictionary and my favorite on line glossary of sailing terms is no help.
