Repair/rebuild that motor and operate/maintain it properly and it will out live you and the hull it's mounted in. Rebuilt and operated/maintained properly that motor should last better than 12,000 hours.

If all else fails go to http://boatdiesel.com/ and sign up and search that forum. Pay to get in and just search the archives. More solid info on that site than any parts supplier in existence.

Hey JB, I feel your pain - after 4 years of fighting my 10Two (water pump, fuel pump, leaking fuel lines, exhaust mixing elbow, etc.) the trans went. I got lucky and found a guy in Florida ( a Yanmar dealer) who sold me an new Yanmar YM15 for $5,411 delivered to NC. Installed it myself while boat was on a mooring. Yanmar mechanic came out and certified. I had dealer add a port in the cooling system so I could connect a hot water heater. So I probably have the only h27 with hot and cold water and then converted the sink faucet to one with a 6 ft hose so I can take a hot shower on deck.
Every sailor has his/her own plan. I use my boat a lot - already have over 2,000 hours on 5 year old engine. It starts immediately, no water or oil under and lots of power for strong currents around here. What worked for me may not be right for you but I went out 2 days ago for a few hours of PURE PLEASURE! Be patient. Tony
That sounds like a steal Tony! Everyone keeps telling me to find the tractor equivalent to the W 10 Two and I can't find it. So many hours on computer wife asks if we're ever going to the boat!!!! You have any additional company names that exchange parts with the 10 Two? Love the shower idea!

After spending all weekend working on Westerbeke, it is running good. I visited or called every Westerbeke supplier, visited every marine, auto, hose and fitting store in the Portland area. One of Westerbeke's coolant molded with 90 is a 1" at one end and 1 1/4" at other. The out let from the sea water pump is 3/8 and goes to 7/8 hose. No one had a clue where to find a 7/8 fitting or a hose. Interesting weekend, but it's assembled, operating, and not leaking. Johnson does make replacement for the 10Two sea pump :)

I agree with the above post..... there are a few companies around that specialize in supplying parts and support for the industrial type engines. you just havent found one yet. keep asking different places and you will find a dependable source to supply you with all you need at a fair price..
once you get your little westerbeke diesel back into proper shape, you will be very happy you kept it rather than switching to an outboard. they are very reliable with very little maintenance to keep them that way.... and old means nothing.... if it isn't wore out and used up, you have a good solid base to build on....
Your right! Spent all weekend getting it tuned up and just took it out. Little engine in strong current purred right along! I felt like a proud pappa! Especially when you do all the work yourself. I will say, I was not able to get some of the parts and had to get very creative. Some of the stock molded hoses 1" on one end and 1 1/4" with a 90 degree elbow on it are impossible to get. But, I am making it work and am on the water!

Once you get into diesels, you'll never want to touch another outboard, for so many reasons, or old Atomic 4s for that matter.
