I am still trying to wrap my mind around the gin pole concept for lowering/raising mast. As I understand it the gin pole attaches to the base of the mast and the forestay? I am having difficulty with the mechanical advantage created with the pole mounted in this location. There must be some additional equipment (block/tackle) mounted forward?? Anyone have any pictures??? I am OK with the mast crutch mounted on the stern..... that make sense to me. Maybe a picture on the forward setup would clear it up for me. Thanks ken in sacramento
