Hello all,

New to the forum but have been lurking for quite some time. I recently bought a Hunter 26 and have been working for the last few months to reverse 17 years of wear and tear..Right now I am looking for the Gibbs plugs that are supposed to hold the T Ball in the mast itself. I found a place in England that sells them but I hear the shipping is pretty spendy. Where can I find another vendor or is there a suitable sub? Thanks!

...or just don't count on the rubber plugs and create a safer way to cradle/align the T fitting no matter how the rigging is tugged during stowing/trailering/stepping.

Here's what I came to for about .50c at Hm Depot. They don't foul the fitting in any way and with only one alum rivet on the aft side of the mast you can easily get the side stay T out if needed(although I can't imagine why). The forestay gets two alum rivets that you could simply drill off the head if you ever wanted to remove it. Too many of these fittings have failed after inadvertent damage due to being tweaked in the seat. This is a 100% safer fix.

Enjoy your new adventure, Mike

Thanks for the input guys! I think I will go with the captive method that Soling is using. That just makes sense to me after reading the article that Canmor posted. I'm not interested in a falling mast or bent rigging!

Don,t know age of your boat, but if thinking about any standing rigging replacement take a look at this, added swivle to forstay with CDI furler, lets furler move in multiple ways, taking strain off forestay.

The boat is a 95...as of yet I do not have a furler. Maybe next year I will invest in one as I know it makes things easier. Right now I am trying to figure out the seahood...it doesn't want to open and I can't figure out what I am missing. Of course I've only looked at it when it is getting dark out! Soggie

From the after-sail deck....

For the past three seasons, I have relied on those handy artificial corks turning up on many kinds of wine. Several brands even use corks in fashionable black. It's just a basic pocket knife project that looks and works better than it sounds. I have not had to replace one yet. It probably makes sense to finish the project before starting the wine though.
