Does anyone know where GFI Gortex packing can be purchased. I don't find it listed at west marine's web site or maybe don't know where to look.. Thanks in advance: Jim

Is this it?

What I use can be seen in the Link below, "Dripless Packing". Two seasons with no drips and no adjustments so far. Plenty of extra in the kit so I may pull the box apart and check it next Spring.

Ed, That is not the GFI Gortex packing

I have heard conflicting things about that green stuff. It is more like putty and I've heard that it has "oozed" out at times. Plus its like 4 times more expensive than Gortex. I use the Gortex stuff and so far it has worked great. I looks and goes on just like regular Flax Packing but its made with a special fiber (kind of like a graphite) Click on the link below

So it's NOT it!

If/when my "green putty" starts to ooze or drip I will switch. The GFI looks really good. Thanx Tom.

Tom has the right one

Jim, Sorry for not seeing your note. I have been very busy with work. Tom gave you the same link as where I got mine. Should only take a couple of days to come and installs just like regular flax. I used 1/4" packing for my 1" shaft. Les Murray s/v Ceilidh 86 C-36 #560
