Joan and I have made great progress in the last two weeks. We left Cobb Island on Nov 16 and made St Augustine on Nov 30. Did ocean voyage from Little River to St Augustine in a 48hr run. It was worth it. Temps in the 70's lows in the 60's. We are on mooring 36 in Augustine if anyone is around stop by.

Looks good Jim. We arrived Charleston today with mid 60s. We will stay here a week and then may make an outside run for St. Augustine next week.

Sue's son Corey was shipped out yesterday to Parris Island for Marine Corp boot camp. Tim, please shout out an oorah for him (and us) as you pass by if you're keeping to the ICW. Sue's going thru a lot of emotional swings right now. Last night at about 11:00 she got her 5 second phone call from Corey announcing that PFC Corey arrived at Parris Island. Lots of noise and commotion with drill sergeants in their face!

LOL. Oorah! Her little boy is about to become a man. I have seen a few kids go into the marines never to be seen again. Strong, confident men emerge.

Thanks! He was pretty shaky on Sunday afternoon when he left the house and apparently on Sunday night while they had them stay in a hotel near Fort Hamilton in Brooklyn. We went to see the induction and saw that he was doing better. Sue did her best saying final goodbyes. She was a mess soon after on the drive home. They are exceptionally close. We expect to go down there for graduation sometime around the end of February. I'm looking forward to it!

We passed Parris Isl late Oct on our way out Port Royal Sound. Glad to have made the forced march south when we did. It got cold in a hurry!
Hangin round blustery sub-tropical Stuart for a while. Life is good :)

Blessings for Sue - it must be so hard to see her son leave the relative safety of home and enter the real world dangers of military service. Hopefully she can take some comfort in the quality of their training and the growth in his abilities. I wish her, and you, the best.

Scott, this sounds like a letter in today's Dear Abbey column, "Stoic mom faces son's deployment".

Thanks, I'll pass this along to Sue. She takes comfort in all of these comments as well.
