Weekender

Well the weekender is really just a glorified dinghy. I've only heard 2 stories of them capsizing though. They're supposed to be good at rounding up. I would probably build the Vacationer. I've had plans for both for about 5 years now. I got my 222 when I ran out of garage space to actually build a boat.

Weekender reply

I had emailed Ron Young a few years ago inquiring about the Weekender, and he told me that he had capsized his Weekender, but he was able to right it back as easy as righting a Sunfish. I don't think he is building too many boats anymore. He's gotten into building fences and sheds. I really don't think that I'd be up to building a Weekender, even if I had the space, but there is a little boat that I think I could tackle and finish right in my cellar workshop. It's called The Classic Cajun Pirogue on Uncle John's site. If you check it out you'll also see the folding chair which is pretty unique. They have the plans and the kits for this boat.
