One of the issues I have when trying to create the correct tension
on the impeller pump is getting a place to apply pressure to move
the bracket.

Any one have a place that they can shove a bar on a 2gmf that has good holding power?

Thanks
Mark

Get a turnbuckle with an eye ring at each end. Saw off 1/2 of both eye making a Y shape. Place turnbuckle between both pulleys and expand by turning the buckle body. The curve eye ring should sit in pulley nicely with slipping. That should stretch the belt. You have to use a suitable size turnbuckle.

The raw water pump needs little tensioning to work. I had mine rebuilt by Depco in Clearwater and then I installed it with too much tension. After two weeks it failed. Depco fixed it for free and told me that all that is needed is that the impeller turns. There is no reason to tighten the belt.

Paul is right. Never tighten the raw water pump as instructed in the manual as it is too tight and will leak in no time. As for Alternator, follow manual instructions.
