I need to remove my boat from the trailer for repair to both the trailer and the boat. Does anyone have plans for building a support system in order to safely take the boat off the trailer? Thanks

Here is what I did

Jack the trailor up in the air. Block up the boat. I used to leave the trailor under the boat but if you are careful it can be pulled out. You have to move the blocks as you move it out. I used cider blocks with wood on top to block up the boat. If I were to do it over, I would pay a marina for dry storage (short hull) and let put the boat up on jack stands. They have the equipment to do the job WITHOUT HURTING THE BOAT! Spending the money is the easiest and safest way to good! Image if the boat came down when you were under there! Owning a boat is al about spending money. The sooner we get that into our heads the better. A boat is nothing more than a hole in the water to pour money!

I simply made

a cradle out of 4X4s wider than my trailer and a bit higher, jacking the boat up to it. Pulled the trailer and then had all the room I wanted. The 4X4s were placed in two areas that are the strongest in the hull, at the stern and just in the front of the keel trunk where there is plenty of fiberglass, to rest the boat on! It wasnt hard to build!

Jeff, one more thing

What I've seen people do esing 4X4 stand or steel barrels as supports. They drop the trailer tongue down which raises the stern. They put the bracing under the stern. Then they jack up the tongue which puts the weight on the stern bracing and raises the bow off the bunks. Then they brace under the bunks. If you use boards that are wider than the trailer you can then pull the trailer out. Put something under the boat to support the keel.

website

take a look at the enclosed website, there you will find a few different idea's on getting the boat off the trailer. One thing you will want to watch is oil canning of the hull. make sure you have whatever you use in the strongest part of the hull with bulkheads centered where your support is.
