Had an opportunity to test my "get on board after falling over" system. It worked - even for me - a 61 year old guy. I attach a length of webbing, like what we use for jack lines on deck, to my stern cleat. it has several loops in it for footholds. So it doesn't drag in the water, I tie the lower end to my other stern cleat with whipping twine. If you are in the water, at the stern, you can reach the "ladder" and break the twine putting the "ladder" in the water. It actually works and can be used if the boat is under way.
