i'm on vacation here in maine, and saw a beautiful blue-hulled h40.5 in boothbay harbor...the sugar scoop had been left white...the boat was really stunning...the name was "white out"...does anyone have any information about this boat??

Signature Yachts here in Seattle just got a 460 with a blue hull - incredible! The yard guys couldn't figure out who the builder was; it looks that different! I'll try to get a photo up here next week.

Colored hulls
I is interesting how everybody goes crazy when we see a hull color other than white anymore. I remember when Catalina used to offer several hull colors, along with deck contrasts. I had a beautiful French Blue hull on a Cat 22. I just saw a new Cat 380 with a navy hull ( beautiful) and then there is the Hunter with the green hull. Too bad that such an option is not so readily available. I know that when it comes time for my hull to be painted it won't be white. Big question is how to prevent fading. Has that been overcome with the new gelcoats , paints etc.?

Just this season we got a H450CC in our marina with a Navy blue hull. The owner had the commissioning yard awlgrip it.

Luhrs did this one in Seattle
The Signature boat came from Hunter with the blue hull, although they shipped it to the Luhrs plant in St. Augustine to have the work done. I'm not sure if this is ever going to be a factory option, but it sure is cool.

Painted?
Are these new hulls painted or is the gelcoat blue? Seems like a painted hull would suffer more from scrapes than fading. Every little dock encounter is going to show white gelcoat.

Think it's gelcoat
I'll double check this,but I think it's the gelcoat that's blue, for that very reason.
