Greetings, ya'll! Planning on spending a week in the area of J. Strom Thurmond/Clark's Hill lake the end of July (25' Catalina on a trailer). Any suggestions on what to see/avoid, potential bridge clearance issues, etc. would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.........Ed

Good Morning, My wife and I sailed Georgia via the ICW in 1999. It is truly a beautiful state by the water. With your boat you should be able to work your way into some great spots. We liked the area around Brunswick...there's a small channel off the ICW that leads to old Fort Fredricka...great area. We also enjoyed our time near Cumberland Island (near the FLA. border) Enjoy the trip.

Clark Hill Lake

Ed...I've sailed Clark's Hill Lake with my Daysailor numerous times while camping at several parks on the Ga side(Mistletoe, primarily). The lake is long but not really wide, and the ramps as I recall are in fairly shallow water.Drove down to the area at the dam once and there were bigger boats there. You might try getting info from a sailing club(Augusta Yacht/Sailing Club??)before taking the boat up.

GA LAKES

If you are trailering a 25-foot boat...your best bet is Lake Lanier...one hour north of Atlanta. Are you going to Clark's Hill for a reason (relatives, friends, etc.)? I have a 25-foot Hunter on Lake Lanier and sail regularly. You will need to contact a marina for space. Holiday, Aqualand, Sunrise Cove (mine). Good luck!
