Hi all,

We checked in here at St. Mary’s Wednesday afternoon and enjoyed Thanksgiving with the local townspeople and fellow cruisers. It wasn’t easy getting here from Charleston with our 7 foot draft and 64 foot mast with a new moon tide. Every day there was a stretch of water 4 feet at MLW so we could only travel from mid to full tide then look ahead for the best depths and safe anchorage. We had friends scout ahead when it got under 10 feet in depth concerned that Irma had changed the bottom. In some trouble spots there were new floating markers that showed the deeper water.

The fixed bridges didn’t all have tide boards so we deduced water level by the dark area on pilings and bridge fenders. We were glad to make most of them at mid to low. Active Captain and Bob 423 helped a lot with danger bearings in critical areas. We always had 8 feet or more to get us through.

Hey, All-U, I was wondering where you gotten to. It sounds like you've been plowing that fine southern soil. Were you going to the Caribbean this year?

Just anchored in Fort Pierce, Fl. For everyone who put their boat away, 85 degrees and sunny. Bahamas is our goal again this year.
