I'm in the process of installing a roller furler on my h23. Will be using a %135 genoa. What about genoa tracks? The side deck changing anlge where the cockpit starts, you know what I mean if you have a h23. That limits the length of a possible track. Guess I could insatll two tracks, one before and aft of the transition. I started the same thread on the cruisers forum with pics. http://www.cruisersforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3676

What size did you

have installed before? If it was a 135 then there should be no problem. The "test" is put the car in the middle of the track and unfurl the jib. The jib sheet running from the track car to the clew, should bisect the angle between the foot and the leach. You want to be able to move the car forward to "pull down on the leach" more or move the car aft to "pull back on the foot" more. The "car aft" position is for higher wind speeds, the "car forward" is for lower wind speeds. My guess is you are trying to "go faster in light winds by using a bigger sail". So the clew moves aft and the jib sheet lead looses its ability to "pull aft on the foot" and increses its ability to "pull down on the leach, all relative to a smaller sail. So you are losing the ability to flatten the sail in higher winds. Prepair to heel. You can always augment the jib sheet lead with a barber-hauler. Not a great answer but more options is usually better than fewer ones.

I have two

You are correct, it takes two. A second track aft the transition works well.

6" from the toe rail

is where we put the tracks, and about an inch from the rise near the cockpit. We found 2 used tracks at Bacon Sails in Annapolis MD they are about 4ft long and curved nearly just right for our boat. all the #10/24 machine holding them down screws are accessable from underneath. the decks are about an inch thick. The foot of genoa we have is about 12'10" seems to be plenty of room for the jib block and more to spare to get the sheets on the winches to. Hope this helps! Denise
