I have a '95 Hunter water ballast model, which only came with a working jib. I would like to upgrade with the addition of 135 and 155 genoas. I am interested in how and where to mount genoa tracks and winches. Any information would be appreciated. Also, has anyone rigged a backstay to augment sail trim options?

Sail shape

Eric, There's been many discussions on these topics in the past. Basically, for best sail shape you're pretty much stuck with the 100% jib only. Remember that the main power from this rig is from the main, not the head sail. Since the coach roof goes all the way to the toe rail you would have to either have a very high foot or run the sail outside the lifelines only. With this setup you won't be able to trim tight to the wind. Putting a backstay on the rig will cause problems with the large roach of the main. The only upgrade I'm planning is a cruising spinnaker for better downwind performance. Good luck / fair winds, Jim Covey s/v Wampeter

Forget the Genoa

I agree with Jim that a genoa is not very practical on the H26. I bought a cruising spinnaker on advice of others and the UK Flasher/Stasher combo that was advertised on this web site has worked very well and given extra power on reaches and downwind.
