Has anyone installed genoa tracks on a 23.5? I'm looking for suggestions on how best to position the tracks on the cabin top. We use a roller furling if that matters. Thanks.Rich
For give Me, but doesnt the stock ones work? The only thing I changed was to add some cleats to helphold the jib sheet. the boat points well as is. please explain.Thank you.Dave B.
If the 23.5 and the 240 came with a small section of track so that the block could be moved forward and aft it would allow folks with a further to maintain a better sheeting angle when sailing with a partial furl in the jib. Some might try to add a larger headsail. I can't see doing this unless you always sail in very very very light winds. The standard 110 holds its own with the large mainsail.
Against the advise of Dave Condon and others I have put a 135% genoa on my 23.5. It makes an incredible performance jump over the 110% stock jib. It is pure hell to handle in stronger breezes. The asymetrical spinnaker is a better choice to use in lighter wind. My issue is the need to tack frequently in the relatively narrow lakes(river) I routinely sail in. I have mounted Harkin carbo-cam blocks on the stantions near the winches but the sheeting angle is still not ideal. Sheets run outside the shrouds and lifeline as opposed to the stock 110% that is sheeted to fixed blocks on the deck (inside the shrouds and lifelines. . . .Let me know if there is a good way to mount tracks.. .
