Should I buy a 150 or 135 genoa for Cat 30? I have heard that the 150 over powers the boat. I have a 110 that is almost new, but need more power for 10 knot winds.

The size of your jib/genoa depends on the prevailing conditions in which you sail, and your comfort in doing so. In 10 knot conditions, certainly you'll go for a 150; perhaps a cruising spinnaker would make your sailing more fun! There are always complexities to this issue, I'd be happy to discuss them with you. Dave Groshong Customer Service SailboatOwners.com toll free 877-932-7245 ext116, Mon-Fri, 9-5 Pacific

I HAVE BEEN TOLD

I RECENTLY PURCHASED A NEW GENNY FOR MY C30 FROM ULMAN SAILS. WHAT THEY TOLD ME IS THE 150% WILL GIVE YOU BETTER ACCELERATION IN CHOP. I BOUGHT A 140% BECAUSE ON THE LAKE WHERE I SAIL THE WIND IS 20 KNOTS BEFORE WE HAVE MUCH CHOP. THIS SAIL REPLACES A 150% AND I BELIEVE I REACH HULL SPEED WITH THE SAME AMOUNT OF WIND AS BEFORE AND IS EASIER TO TACK. HOPE THIS HELPS SOME.

ROOSEVELT LAKE, AZ

WE HAVE A C30 IN A SLIP YEAR ROUND AT ROOSEVELT LAKE, AZ. AFTER SPENDING THE LAST WEEK IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA FOR THE NEWPORT / ENSANADA RACE I REALLY APPRECIATE OUR LAKE. SO CAL IS REALLY GREAT, HOME IS PRETTY GREAT TOO. GOOD SAILING, WONDERFUL SUNSETS, LOTS OF ANCHORAGES AND NICE PEOPLE.

genoa

I have a C30 TR and a new 150 genoa. The boat sails sweet with the 150 but a 150 is a pain to tack on a lake.I think a 135 would be better.I do like to sail my boat with the head sail only .and i get good power from the 150 John
