Does anyone know about sail hanks to use to hanks sail on over the roller furling. They would have to be plastic or nylon I would think, so they wouldn't wear lor score the roller furler. Where can you get them ??
I've seen print ads for something called a gale-sail that goes on over a roller-furled jib, but am not sure how it is rigged. IMHO that hanks would tend to bind on the furled sail on the forestay. They would need to have some sort of roller-collar, like parrels on a square-rigged ship, in order to slide up & over the furled sail smoothly.
I'm looking for plastic or nylon hanks, about 1 1/4" dia. , that would go around, but not damage, the roller furling extrusion, without a rolled up sail on it.
GeneDon't understand what you're looking for.If you have an existing sail with hanks, and you have a roller furling extrusion, rather than finding hanks (which may not exist), why not just have the sailmaker put a #6 luff tape on the sail and use it on the furler? Please help us help you by better understanding what you're trying to do and why.Stu
