I am looking at my second season sailing (I am a novice) and thinking about Genoa Lead Cars for my Genoa sail. Currently I move the blocks on the toe rail which is unhandy as I mainly sail by myself. I am looking for any advice or feedback.

If you are going to spend the money to install a track based genoa car system on your vessel, I suggest the Garhauer EZ glide system. www.garhauermarine.com

Many of our forum members have their boats rigged with this affordable equipment.

Here's a pic of the smaller unit.... only $265.00... but you will spend another $100 at least on track.

Quite possibly the coolest upgrade when considering cost/benefit. Ok, nevermind, Simply the coolest upgrade period.
Get some brightly coloured line, you'll be the envy of all those around you.

I like the idea. Why can't it be set up using the toe rail track?

I'm guessing he has an actual toe RAIL ... rather than a molded rail with t track fixed on top.. such as my Cat 27. Most boats with that config will have an inside track for working jib, and then use snatch blocks clipped to appropriate slots in the toe rail for the genoa... perhaps even rigging a barber hauler also. That's a lot of extra work for a single hander even with the time saving convenience of a snatch block.

Joe- Yes I do have an actual toe Rail and it is very unhandy when sailing alone. I went to the website but did not find exactly what you suggested. Remember, I am a novice and much of the terminology is Greek to me, although I am learning. I am not too familiar with the Catalina series, are they similar to the S-2? I do like the price of your suggestion as I am looking at Harkin and it is much higher.

They are listed under the "EZGlide system" off the main page, and assuming that you're talking about using a 1" t track, then the first listing, EZ G-1ub would be the part. If you want to terminate the adjustment line at the end of the track, then the SJ-1 would be the part you need.
I added the deck track, as it was an option that the original purchaser did not opt for, and with the 155 up front, this accessory gets used constantly.

Meriachee-Thanks for the info. I will further investigate. I am also looking at a single line mainsail reefing system by Harken. Any input?

Not from me, although my buddy Guido at Garhauer made me a very nice 3:1/6:1 mainsheet block that I made a nice butt splice line for.
Cool toys at exceptionally reasonable prices.
