I have a 26 foot Ross (N.Z. designed, built in Australia) trailer sailer without a backstay. The boat came with a spinnaker, but for various reasons, I have had it recut into a gennaker with a reduction in size of about 20 per cent. It works really well. However, a mate commented that a rig without a backstay wouldn't carry a gennaker.Does anyone have any experiences (good and bad) with this scenario? The previous owner/builder has told me that they had no problems with flying a spinnaker and that the capshrouds and chainplates are really strong, so he can't see any problem.CheersBing
