I have a 26 foot Ross (N.Z. designed, built in Australia) trailer sailer without a backstay. The boat came with a spinnaker, but for various reasons, I have had it recut into a gennaker with a reduction in size of about 20 per cent. It works really well. However, a mate commented that a rig without a backstay wouldn't carry a gennaker. Does anyone have any experiences (good and bad) with this scenario? The previous owner/builder has told me that they had no problems with flying a spinnaker and that the capshrouds and chainplates are really strong, so he can't see any problem. Cheers Bing

Hello Bing

Would you have a photo I can look at from the side. Regards

Unfortunately....

Hi Mark ....we have only got photos taken from on board. As you will realise, it's pretty hard to get a good shot of such a big area when you're up so close. What are your thoughts anyway? email: judois4@yahoo.com.au Cheers Bing
