I need comments on Honda generators, es: the EU2000i. Any input from users would be appreciated, thanks.

I use the 1000i, which is smaller than the 2000 but much more manageable. It has always started up, and I am happy with it. On the Macgregor 26X, it easily tucks away in any of the storage compartments. Although I must admit that the 2000 watt instead of the 1000 opens up a few important possibilities, such as operating a electrical hot water heater, hair dryer etc

It doesn't get any better then the 2000i

I purchased it for $860 no tax or shipping... and it works like a champ... I am tring to find a Tiny Tach hour meter for it so I can keep track of the time I use it.. We are live aboards and use it all the time.. It works great with the Heart invertor.. It load shares with the 50 amp charger and the water heater.. Go ahead and purchase it and you will be happy.. better then a wind generator..

Jon; That's another question I have, power sharing and the water heater. Exactly how does that work, and how do you set it up? How long does it take to recharge, say, a 400 amp/hour bank to 80%? Thanks! Larry W.

Load sharing is in the Heart invertor

It is easy to tell the invertor it has 15amps. Just set the dip switchs on the back of the led panel.. So you have to purchase the heart invertor (1000watt, $700-$1000) and a led control panel (about $100). We have 4 6volts on board for 400Aamp Hours.. and I run the generator for 1 hour.. and 20min for the water heater. We also have 2 80watt solar panels to help keep up with the refrigeration and running 2 laptop's.. Life is good when you have all the power you need.

Hey, Jon, Did I Read That Right?

Do you run the water heater with the Honda 1000 by reducing your power share setting on the remote? I thought 1500 watts AC is the draw regardless of the amp setting on the panel. One of the club guys installed a step down to 750 watts for his water heater, but if your 1000 works, maybe he didn't need to. Only reason for asking is that that 1000 is a lot more compact and lighter than the 2000. Rick D.
