Very true

Yes trucks run their a/c while parked. You will more likely wake up from the bad smell than die from diesel exhaust. Most any truck stop has the same or a greater amount wafting around. I personally would not be worried about it. The stats show this as gas generators have been the determining factor, not diesel. BTW, newer trucks stop and start automatically to keep an even temperature. They have a sound that goes on just before the engine starts so that subconsiously you know there is no problem before it starts or the starting would wake you. They have found that this is less damaging to the engine and more fuel efficient than letting them idle all night.

My first genset/AC experiance

Just got back from a week in BVI. Bareboated a 44' Cat with a diesel Panda genset set in a insulated box in the port aft engine compartment. Seawater cooled with an exchanger. Very quiet and we ran it a few times all nite whle sleeping (1/2 gallon per hour). It made sleeping very comfortable on those hot humid nights. If I lived in the southeast or texas I would opt for the genset/AC. But since my boat's in san diego its not an issue.
