Seems a bit pricey but w/o knowing the size and brand Hunter has sized for your boat it would be hard to price it. I would think you would be able to pick any brand and size you prefer, is this not the case?
I also think one can expect to pay a bit more when purchasing it as an "option" in comparison to an add-on. One advantage is a better install and wiring configuration if installed while the boat is opened and not cluttered with interior and such.
Not that I prefer an external over the internal generator as I don't. I use a Honda i2000 and although it becomes a pain to pull out of the locker and move to the front of the boat where it runs 1hr in the morning and night it does a great job for our needs. Retrofit to an internal generator is not a cost effective option that I'm willing to invest as we will be moving up again to a larger boat configuration in a few years. The cost for my i2000 was $900 which when I sell it used for $400-$500, my TCO is $500 +/- plus fuel which can't be beat imho.
