friend of mine has a 42 hunter with a nexgen generator that runs but not getting power to boat .
It has an inverter I've turned it off as it was on , I've switched shore power off and switched to generator , the gen light on control panel is not lit and no power .
Question , is there another switch somewhere that must be switched to get power to rest of ship ?
New owner who does not know his boat very well so any help would be great !
Thank you
Billy

according to the nexgen trouble shooting guide for no power -- you should also have fuses at the battery end of the DC connections, and maybe some sort of transfer switch for the AC side.

Breaker tripped
The circuit breaker will trip if the unit is
overloaded or short- circuited. The breaker may
also trip if the Gen-set is working to capacity in
a very hot environment. In any case with a
breaker tripping, it is advisable to determine the
cause before restarting.
Faulty capacitor
It is possible to have a faulty capacitor causing
loss of output voltage but this can only be tested
by replacing the capacitor and restarting.
Generator problem
Consult the Markon generator handbook or
consult with Next Generation Power.

There is a breaker reset button on the genset but before you look for it you need to understand how the genset was installed. There should be a disconnect close to the genset to prevent it from sending power to the house AC system. Then there should also be a breaker that switches from shore to ship AC.

Red reset button on A/C side of generator. Mine was always tripping until I installed a blower and ran the duct right to the A/C side of the generator. If that doesn't work then probably the capacitor. Had several of those go out as well.

What year boat and all Gen not setup the same and have FP installed at factory and has all auto switching so not to make mistake with more than one power at panel.
If not installed at factory could be many options like rotary switch or separate switching on your own shut everything off and only turn a breaker or switch for power from Gen,I do have breakers to switch to Gen power at panel.

There is most often a breaker in the lazarett that houseses the genset. Mine gets bumped with fenders and other items.
