Post to all… no response needed. This probably belongs in the “Sail Call Lounge”, however the original post started here... I revisited a very recent post, as it was a specific rant directed at me from a previous post that was undoubtedly misinterpreted. To my dismay the post had an unusual amount of traffic for 9 hours and was a train-wreck turning into an “Episode of 24”, with me in the middle of it all (cr*p… Jack Bauer was nowhere to be seen)! I was only able to read the most recent threads on the page as I was out the door and gone for most of the day, fully expecting to exonerate myself and turn chaos into some semblance of order in the morning. Upon my return the post was MIA, and for good reason. I think I could have made it worse! It is not my intention to start a fight… jump out of the ring… and let other members carry the water for my actions… or inactions as the case might be. I do however thank MaineSail (from the one page I read) for stepping in to try and douse the fire that was started. He was correct… in the only point I was trying to make. Many of us are short on words; type in our cranial 2 cents worth (3 sentences tops)… never to revisit the post again, as our good deed has been delivered. Don't try to read between the lines. I think the purpose of this forum is… to ask questions from on-line mentors (because that is what we all are). And in return one gets a plethora of information to decipher through, act on… and hopefully admire the results of a project well done… or new acquaintances made. It serves no useful purpose to attack individuals (whether they are right or wrong), when we are all in this forum for the same thing… Love of Sailing... Remember… there are no stupid questions… just stupid answers. Respectfully, Rich

don't worry about it

Rich I frequent this forum often and only vaguely recall seeing anything similar to what I infer happened. One of the great things about this forum is the mutual respect we all seem to have for each other here and you are certainly no exception. Unfortunately, sometimes someone may misunderstands, over-react or just have a bad day. Don't let it get to you as, if I am any indication, it has already been forgotten.

Remember… there are no stupid questions… just stupid answers.

Remember… there are questions…and there are answers. Taxes are done.......and I just came back to life....down to the boat. I think you all can appreciate this one... I went into the gas station today and asked for five dollars worth of gas..... The clerk farted and gave me a receipt. paulj

I remember the "dust-up" and thought is was

much ado about nothing. Rich said that generally a boat under the mid twenty foot range was less then desireable for long distance cruising. Didn't rule anything out and didn't rule anything in. Someone took offence with the wording and claimed to have been insulted. I didn't read in the original thread anything so inflamitory as to start a fight over. There are a few boats under 25 feet that can be depended on for crossing an ocean and many more that shouldn't leave sight of land. There is no quarrel there but someone seemed to find one. Rich, I hope you will be able to consider the source of the desent and put it behind you. You make good contributions to this forum.

Thanks Rich..

You were wrongly accused so I defended your position no more, no less and I'd have done it for anyone else too.... This was a reading comprehension issue at best but it was late, I was in the office working and was having fun with it..! I'll "clean your bilge" when you're ready..!

Rich

No one that i can think of will fault you. And BTW, I disagree with one of your statements "Remember… there are no stupid questions… just stupid answers." I ask stupid questions on a regular basis. Even though we disagree on that point, I promise I wont send you any e-mails. Tony B

If I recall the Funny paper correctly, " there are no stupid questions,

just stupid people asking them!" :) Note, this was just for info and not for implication! I would hate to hear what is said about stupid replies! r.w.landau

Read it

Actually it got moved or deleted just as I was finishing up reading it. I think your post that was the center of the controversy was no big deal.

Rich

You were unjustly attacked, or put down, or insulted or whatever the intent was. I didn't see anything in your post that deserved that kind of response. Most on the board saw it the same way. And many took up for you. I know your worried sick over this:), but let it go.

I think Serenity 4u2 deleted his post which was the start of his rant and that t

thread. Whether or not we ever hear from him again remains to be seen.

I'm sure that I have said on more than one

time some stupid chit here, but have not been attacked like you were Rich, which I thought was unfounded. I have vivid recollection of the thread, and my thoughts were that it didn't make a lot of sense for a novice to attempt to undertake a blue water voyage in a boat in the mid 20' range. And.......my recollection was that all you did was advice that novice to reconsider attempting to undertake a task of that magnatitude. Nothing more or less. And then the backlash began. Hopefully this unfortunate situation will fade into the sunset and pass as the new season arrives and occupies our idle minds. Like others have said here, this should be a place where we can come for advice from those that have much more expertise and experience than we, and we can decipher what is sound and reasonable and make a judgement decision based upon what it is that has been said, and based upon what makes good common sense. That is by far what it is that I so like about the site. I try and not throw darts at others for fear that I get darts thrown at me. There is lots of verse in the Bible about casting stones; I'm glad I learned what I did about common sense and respect for others so long ago.

I said that it had been polite

And I still think it has. Let us merrily carry on.

Act Like a Man!

Why don't you stop your crying and act like a man? If the dodo is offended by your reasonable remarks: forget him. That's it. T
