I've owned my 1981 Hunter 27 for 25years. I confess that I have not taken good care (waxing) of the topsides for the last 4 years. I'm old, took up golf, and don't enjoy the boat work that much anymore. Now the gelcoat has oxidized badly and this week when I washed it I noticed the blue undercoating is starting to show. I'm afraid to use any rubbing compound. Does anyone have a recommendation for improving the appearance? Can new gelcoat be applied? Is painting (with what) the best option? Or, is there a majic fix I haven't thought of?

i'm afraid rubbing compound will only expose more blue. wet sanding will too but it puts you on the right path for topside paint. the choices of paints are many. the results will reflect ( hopefully) your investment in material and time. time well spent. carry a 1 iron in your bag on rainy days.. even god can't hit a 1 iron. lol! jimbob
