Gelcoat Repairs; Get MacGregor Gelcoat?

I have two spots on my 2002 26X hull to repair the gelcoat due to rough landings. A friend suggested I get the Gelcoat from MacGregor so that I don't have two shades of white. This sounds a little far fetched to me. Even if I got the same brand, a year in the sun might make the rest of the gelcoat look different anyway. Any thoughts? It's funny; a year ago I just got my 26X brand new. I missed getting it in the water by a month and sat aboard the pristine boat often during the Winter and early Spring, daydreaming of the Summer to come. This past week I was sitting in my boat winterizing it and looking at the various scars, scratches, and other battle wounds it sustained after one Summer of light use (six outings). There is still so much I have to learn! Sam

its worth a call

if it were me witha yr old boat, I would try to get some factory gelcote... I would want to know what brand, etc. Oh yea, it has a shelf life. probably will still show 2 colors/shades as you said... unless you have really deep gouges, you may want to wait a few years and do it all at once... how much does it really bother you?

The white is a generic white, but the black is specific.....a pint of each from the factory is about 8 dollars each......that amount will last a life time of dings. Izzy gave me a few dents and dings to work on this Spring.

Try Minicraft in Fla. WWW.minicraft.com They claim to be able to match gelcoat. You will need you year of mfg. as they Mac. changed the white slightly. I have not tried them, but plan to over the winter. Ray
