Gelcoat- Color Match 1990 (1989 Hunter Legend 35.5)

Has anyone had any luck finding a match to the "Ext White" gelcoat used on 1988-1989 Hunters? I have been in contact with Spectrum Color and they can match to the original spec (Spectrum Color #8451) However, you can only purchase in gallon quantity (way more than I need). I was hopeful that I could find a "close" match to the Hunter white from a different manufacturer (4 Winns, Mastercraft, SeaRay....) one of the high volume manufacturers that Spectrum might still stock. The other option I have is to just get a tinting kit and try to do the match myself....I am dubious as to how effective I will be on that. Any help wold be appreciated.

Once I inquired at a Sherwin Williams storage they said if I brought in a tintable gel coat they could match if for me, assuming I brought a sample of the gel coat, too.

In my humble opinion, with gelcoat, there is no such thing as perfect match, it takes an artist. 30 years of outdoor exposure has too many variables:

Absolutely,
I realized that a "perfect match" is going to be impossible without custom tinting. My hope was that I could find something "close" that was readily available in patch paste or smaller quantities.

They may have a small gel coat paste that will dry in air. Call Dave Groshong as his experience is great and a sailor as well.
