Gelcoat color '77 H30

Looking for info on Gelcoat.
I have a huge section to gelcoat 4'x1' section.
slammed up against the dock during a big storm.
I am doing this in water.
Can anyone tell the proper color match for this year boat.
And maybe were you bought your gelcoat from?

I am thinking it was white? Maybe the gelcoat needs to be sanded?

There are on the market a gazillion colours of white. Furthermore, the colour on your boat will have faded with 33 years of weathering - and the gelcoat which matches the port side might not do well on the starboard! You will likely have to purchase the pigments and learn to colour match gelcoat.
Having done gelcoat repairs many times both in and out of the water, I highly recommend you hold off until the boat is UP ON SHORE. Easier on the body to do the work, fewer contamination of environment issues, power cords hanging in the water are a bad idea, best and fastest gelcoat finish is done with a spray gun and you don't want to be sanding and buffing the overspray on the neighbouring boats! Poor way to meet new people.
