Gel coated cabin facing

Hi Everyone,We are looking at buying a Catalina 27. I have noticed that the gel coated facing inside the cabin has been pushed down at one side. My question: is the facing an integral part of the deck's stability? The deck above feels solid. The area is about two square feet wide. Can it be glued back?Thanks Justus

Gel coat

Gel coat is essentially paint: it's cosmetic, not structural. However, having said that, I have to say that your description doesn't make a lot of sense (but then descriptions of visual problems usually don't.) Are you saying that you can see the matting underneath (matting looks like large peices of straw)? Also, I'd have to ask: what would push the gelcoat aside? It may be a bigger problem than just the gelcoat.
