Gear shift

I am a new owner of a 1988 Catalina 30. It is very very difficult to shift from neutral to forward, and back. Do you have any suggestions for fixing this. It's really nearly impossible.Thanks

hard 2 shift?

Check the linkage, lubricate all pivot points, ... test. If no change, a new cable is indicated.PS. I think I should have spelled my name Juan, not Jaun.

Gear shift problem

Juan might have also mentioned adjusting the shift linkage. Keep it a little stiff, but not enough to make it difficult to shift.Doesn't your boat manual explain this procedure? Chuck
