I've always known the sailboatowners.com site is pretty big but I didn't realize how big. Normally, when I come on I just pop on over to sail trim forum and see what is happening and leave when I'm finished. Yesterday, because I have a Caribe Rigid dingy, OB plus davits and a bunch of other dingy related stuff for sale over on the "gear for sale section", I decided to cruise around the site and see the sights. I spent 30 minutes in the ships store alone. They have a lot of nice stuff, which would make nice Xmas gifts and it is all reasonably priced. I printed some of the stuff and left it on the kitchen table so maybe my wife will gets the hint. If she doesn't I'll just buy myself my own Xmas presents from the ships store!! The "ask all sailors" is a pretty informative section for general infomation.Also, if any of you guys know of any So Ca sailors that are interested in a great deal on a rigid dingy please let me know.

Gear Wanted in Michigan

Don,Very helpful thank you. I am restoring an 1983 Oday 23 and in need of about everything except sails, mast, boom. Mostly I need advice, but also VHF, GPS, compass, fenders, lines, outboard motor, life vests, flares, manuals on how to fix minor holes in fiberglass hatches and how to step the mast including what is proper stay tension. With the historically low Great Lakes water level, a through the hull depth guage is also something I must buy and have installed. Any adice or gear would help. Thanks. John

John: Your really in luck with sailboatowners.com because they have a section devoted to O'days. Go to the home page and find the "brand specific" site and click on O'day. You'll find all the advise you'll need there. I've found that the mates that frequent Sailboatowners.com are more than willing to share infomation with you and a lot of these guys are a wealth of infomation. I remember in the old days when the only way to get any info was visit a boat yard or West Marine. Now, with the click of a button, everything that you'd ever want to know about a sailing related subject is available with the click of a button and it comes to you from worldwide sources - amazing.Some of the infomation your interested in can be obtained from a WM or Boat/US catalog but the more specific info will come from the O'day owners.

reading the write-up Practical Sailor did on your boat some years ago. They were quite favorable in their remarks. They have a site you can order reprints from, or your library might be able to get a copy of "Practical Boat Buying", a two volume publication that includes that article, along with lots of other reviews that make good reading in the winter.
