We store gas for the dinghy outboard on the rear stern or along the
mid ship life lines.
I have boards that I tie extra diesel, water, gas Jugs.

We have a diesel generator but carry gasoline for our outboard. We keep a jug on the side deck tied to a board between two stanchions. Also we can tuck a small jug under the helm seat and the dinghy holds an outboard fuel tank on the davits.

Ditto, tied to the stanchions. The anchor locker is properly vented to outside the hull so if you have room you could consider it. Gas fumes are heavier than air so precautions similar to the use of propane need to be followed.

Thanks for responding, I'm trying out the ideas today. What do you use to secure the gas can to the swim step?

Benny, the anchor locker is working to store the small gas can. no problem dropping the anchor. We're anchored at Port Ludlow Wa. Thanks for the advice, it was so good I'm surprised that I didn't think of it :)
