Gasket material for Gray/Bowmar portlight

I've replaced the lenses of both main cabin portlights on my H26. I got the replacement lenses from Hunter, but they didn't have the rubber gaskets. The one in the head is dry now, but the galley light still leaks, though not nearly as much as it did with a cracked lens hinge. I can't find anything on gaskets on the Pompanette website (they bought out Bowmar.) Nothing in BoatUS or West Marine either, unless I missed it. Does anyone have a source for the original gasket, or a suitable substitute? It appears now to be roughly square in cross-section, about 1/4", but after 6 years of compression it's hard to know what the original size might have been.

Gaskets

Hey Tom, I went through the same problems a couple of months ago. Go to Boat/US, they have the phone number for Bowmar; have the sizes of the ports ready and they will tell you what the correct size gasket is and the part number and price per foot. Then have your Boat/Us store order it for you, the price will surely be cheaper then dealing directly with Bowmar. I also ordered the hatch cover gasket same way. Also measure around the port first so you know how much material per port... Good Luck!

I agree with John

Boat/US has a Special Orders Desk. Get the number from their calalog and give them a call. I recently bought a port thru them and it was 25% cheaper than dealing with Pompanette direct.

Thanks John and Paul

Got my gasket yesterday. Will install this weekend. Everything was just as you said, including the price savings from BoatUS. Thanks again! Tom
