Gas Mileage/Range?

Can anyone help with predicting what sort of range per gallon of fuel, or "gas mileage" I should be able to expect with a Honda 9.9 four stroke pushing my "new" O'Day 25 with a fairly clean bottom?I know... This is a question I should be able to answer for myself, and I will ultimately. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks.

re gas milage

a lot of variables in that question. you gave the boat size and hp of the motor. also depends on how loaded the boat is (ie number of people etc), current, wind, and how hard you plan to push the motor. best i can tell you is that my 222 with 6hp two stroke ususally gives me about an hours running per gallon. it is still early for me as i have had this boat anly a little over a month myself. i am considering buying a six gallon tank for peice of mind as the three gallon tank gets half used on an average days sailing

Internal Tank

I installed a 12 gallon internal tank on my 25 and have a Johnson 9.9. I also uses about a gallon an hour, and I only gas up about every 5th or 6th time out.Riccomes a timeAmherst NH

I run about a gallon per hour no matter what. I don't run it flat out, I estimate it runs about 80% of throttle. This translates into 5-5.5 knots with wind and tide and 4.5 against wind and tide.At full throttle the boat just seems to squat and burn more fuel.It has a 10 gallon internal tank and I re-fill it using 2 gallon jerry jugs, saves lots of wear and tear at the gas dock.Though stopping to chat with the fuel dock guys while the "petrol boats" stack up at their burn per hour rates does make me smile internally.GeofS/V Day-O

You'll be surprised

I've got a 9.9 (280cc) 4 stroke honda. I get about 11-12 mpg at a throttle setting just above start. That pushes my 272 at around 6mph over ground and uses about a half a gallon of fuel per hour.
