I am sure getting disgusted with Garmin. Twice this week I have had to call support - 30 minute wait to talk to a guy I can hardly understand. I find them hard to work with if one encounters problems. Trouble is, once you get some of their software, you are locked into them. I am thinking about chucking it all and going to a Standar Horizon for a chart plotter.

Never had any problems.

I consider Garmin to provide the best system available in a wide range of products. My experience with Help Support has been excellent.

Garmin Users

Sounds like your a little bit frustrated. I've been using Garmin for several years and never had any problems. There are also a lot of Garmin users on this site. Are you new to Garmin? Why don't you describe the problem your having and the model of your equipment, may be someone can help you with it.

I have used Garmin for over 15 years

Only had to call them twice, and the service were both great. What kind of problem are you having? Lots of people here at the forum uses Garmin, and probably at least one of them have had a similar problem as the one you are having.

Great support

I have gotten great customer support from Garmin using e-mail. Have never tried actually calling them. Try e-mail, should work better for you. Also when I needed them their response was very detailed instructions and it was really easy just to print the e-mail instead of trying to write it all down on the phone. Good luck.

I call them all the time

in my business and they are the best. There's always exceptions, but try Raymarine, Standard Horizon or most other marine hardware and software companies several times and see what happens. If they are slower than usual, its probably the profusion of new products they are dealing with, the streetpilots (I3, I5, 330, 340 nuvi) and GPS units (192c, 198c, 298c), the new radar and so on. They are really active these days.

Garmin Support is Great

I am happy both with Garmin's Telephone Support, the attention to detail they put into their software releases, and how flawless the upgrade process have been across both my GPS's and MapSource software. They have also included three out of four software improvement suggestions I gave within the same season. Raymarine ... on the other hand, is a problem. I am very fustrated with their handling of a software improvement. They keep closing my issue out on the issue database, with a non-sensical answer.

I'll Vouch For Garmin

I have had incredible support from this company! In fact I'll go so far as to say the half a dozen times I've called them over 10 years of using Garmin products the service was 200%! I also own Raymarine equipment C-80, Autopilot, Radar, Depth Speed, Wind etc. and Raymarine support has also been great. I know others don't think so but just last week I upgraded the firmware in my C-80 and could not get it to work with my Compact Flash card. The guy at Raymarine sent me one at no charge and all I had to do was mail it back when I was done. I still think Garmin has the best tech support going though...

Can't praise Garmin customer support enuf

I've used Garmin products for the past seven years with the Street Pilot and now the 76CS plus. Whenever I've had a problem, they have ALWAYS been top notch with either spare parts, software upgrades, or walking me through problem situation. Try again with a positive attitude and I am sure your exoerience will be better. I've never had any trouble understanding the customer service reps like other companies and believe their customer service is located in the US.

Me wrong?! Never!!!!!!!!!!!

It sounds like my experience is unique. I will hang in there. One nice thing about these forums is to find out what experiences others are having. Even though the posts all disagree with me, I do appreciate the input. On exceptionally rare occasions I have found that I can be wrong.

Nice N Easy

I'll second the good remarks about Garmin. I have Garmin, Ray Marine and JRC on my boat. Tech support from Garmin is #1, JRC #2 (barely below Garmin) and Ray Marine a distant third. I can give you a hint, but almost hate to give away my secrets on here. Call them as early as you can after they open. I do this, and usually get straight through, with no wait.

Got a response in one day. And a good one at that. Gave me more info than any company that I applied for a job at. I third the motion. Good company.
