Just for fun, and not expecting anything except aggravation, I called Garmin tech support to see how long the waits would be in view of the widespread GPS date problem they are having.
The recording said wait times of 7-8 minutes but I was talking to a very sharp rep within about 2 minutes. He said that the date problem actually originates in the plug in network antennas and not the GPS units. Position information is not effected but tide data is.
There is a temporary fix which he is emailing me and they have pulled engineers off of all other projects to get a permanent fix out. This will take the form of a firmware update for each chartplotter unit that will then push a firmware update out to the antenna unit. He said to start checking their web site in about a week.
Maybe the old Garmin is back
