I see that Garmin has released a watch that is loaded with sailing features. The 'quatix' has GPS navigation, race assists, mob alerting, ap control, nnea receive, barometer, compass, temp, and tides.

I'm sure I've missed something, but everyone knows how to fire up the Google machine if they want details.

Anyhow, the $450 street price seems reasonable, if it reliably delivers on its promises. Are there any real-world sailors here who have used the device who can offer feedback, especially disappointments as well as highlights?

They have the same watch in a hiking version and they all have the same shortcoming which is battery life ,if your using the full features it is in the 12 something hour range

Furthermore to take advantage of all the features you need a bunch more stuff to make a compleat interface with the boat

In real life for hiking i have a Polar RCX5 with you can buy as a full on kit or add the bits that suit you needs

The best distance part or the package is the stride sensor that mounts on your shoe as it gives much more reliable speed and distance than my various hiking GPS units and has essentially unlimited battery life (4 + months )
