I posted a question about two weeks ago concerning the GARMIN 492 and someone posted how they utilized an Edson Swivel Mount on the pedestal guard. I am just wondering if it was the Edson 3" 831ST-3-100? Any other pedestal guard mounting options with a 492 which has an internal antenna? Thanks, Greg W.

I also use the edson 3" mount for my garmin that has the 3" mounting pad. I can't tell you the part # either but I have been very happy with how it swivels 360 degrees and how it looks. Someone had posted a used 3" edson mount for sale in the classified section of this site a month or two ago. If they didn't sell it maybe they will relist it. If you buy a used mount make sure it still has the adapter to fit your diameter pedestal guard. Good luck, Jack

Custom Mount

I custom built a mount by using a piece of teak, 1x6, 18 1/2" long. I cut a 6 7/8" diameter cookie out of the side on the center to allow it to fit in closer to the compass, and also cut a hole for a cup holder on one side. I drilled two holes 9 1/2" on center for the guard and mounted it on the pedistal top plate. The GPS sits behind the compass just in from of the pedistal guard. It's stylish, functional, and looks great.

Mount

Greg, Looked all over the mount and didn't see a part # but it's about 3" wide and maybe 7" long. The bracket for the GPS fits into it and then you can swivel it out of the way behind the pedestal for putting on the wheel cover. You can also easily remove the GPS itself and lock it below when not on the boat. I like it cause you can swivel and tilt it to almost any position to monitor the GPS. I do recall it's kind of pricey though seems like I paid over $150 for it but I have to say worth it. Hugh SV La Bourgogne
