Garmin GPS MAP 162

I got a 162 back in March and got around to hooking it up in June or July. Then a couple of weeks ago I noticed it took a while to acquire satelites. Then last weekend it took a while then every half hour or so it would loose contact. Is this common? I'm lake sailing so its just a toy for me what happens if you are relying on the thing and it just says, "gone fishing back in an hour"? I suspect it may be defective as it sometimes shows my path as being overland. Later,Mike

Mike, I have a Garmin as well and it works great. I do notice it takes longer to aquire satelites with the Bimini up and I also has problems with it goin fishin too but that was caused by a bad connection where the antenae connects to the unit. If connection is good you may want to send back to Garmin. Did you install your sailing area from the mapsource CD Rom? The unit should not show you sailing over ground!
