I would like to be able to record onto our computer and then print maps of our sailing trips. We are using a Garmin GPS 76. What softwear do I need and where would I find it?T.I.A.Andy
I use G7toWin and download the record to DeLorme StreetAtlas for display and printing. The included link is for a terrific GPS review site that also provides the ability to access the program.
This is one of the cool things you can do with almost any GPS. Review and print out your actual tracks. Racers do this to analyze their wins and losses during those long winter nights when the Bay is frozen over. Here's an actual example. Also go this link to see more examples I've put together from my own cruising.http://kobernus.com/hunter260/gps/gps1.html
already came with software to let you do that. My sailing buddy bought a 76, not the mapping one, and he does "tracks," then goes home, sticks them on his computer and sends me JPGs of the files.Stu
I have the GPS 76 Map interfaced with by PC using Mapsource that came with the GPS. I can plot courses waypoints etc on the PC and transfer them to the GPS. I can also download actual tracks from the GPS to the PC.If you have mapsource and the data cable between the PC and GPS you should be all set.
